Essential Oils in the Shower

Not everyone likes to wear scents or fill their home with a diffused essential oil, but the fact remains that a good quality essential oil can help elevate your mood, shift you emotionally and just plain make you feel good.  One of my favorite ways to enjoy the oils I use is to put a couple of drops in the corner of my shower in the morning.  The steam from the shower lifts the scent up and I lavish in the smell and good feelings without having to douse myself or my home.

Just this morning my husband was in a cranky mood and dumping his negativity on me.  I used A Peaceful Path‘s “Clearing” blend and by the time my shower was over I was feeling great.  This is actually my favorite for starting the day clean and clear even if everyone is in a great mood.  Here are a few more of my favorites and why:

  • I love Lavender for a general pick-me-up
  • Eucalyptus is great if I feel a cold coming on
  • Lemon or Citrus is a great dose of morning sunshine when it’s not so sun-shiney out
  • A Peaceful Path’s Opening to Love is another of my favorites — especially on date night!

I love how I learn so much from everyone! I have recently started making my own salt scrub with Kosher salt, some organic safflower oil and whatever essential oils call to me – right now it’s Eucalyptus, Tea tree and Holy Basil – I don’t particularity like any of these individually but together – heaven!

    • Love this Karen!! Do you make a fresh batch each use or can it be stored for a period of time? Can we use any other base oil than Safflower or is this the best? I can’t wait to mix my own!

  2. If you are using therapeutic grade essential oils, which are safe for topical and internal use, you can apply them to the skin before getting into the shower and the warm water will help deliver it through your skin. That’s an excellent way to receive the benefits of essential oils without smelling too oily!
